Omnidazole is active against protozoa and anaerobic bacteria and is used like metronidazole in the management in the mangement of susceptible protozoal anaerobic bacterial infections. Ornidazole's longer half-life(12-14 hrs) in comparison to that of metronidazole (6-8 hrs) os of particular advantage, for it favorably reduces the dosage frequency and duration of therpay in many of the relevant clinical infections.
